Detox
Detoxification is necessary when an individual is exhibiting or has the potential for serious symptoms of withdrawal. Withdrawal from alcohol and certain drugs may pose a life-threatening situation. In addition, many individuals experience symptoms that are not life threatening, but make them so uncomfortable that continued use of drugs is necessary to maintain a false sense of wellness. This often keeps alcoholics and addicts from seeking recovery. Medically monitored detoxification can relieve withdrawal symptoms and ensure a safe detox, enabling the patient to enter treatment without fear of further withdrawal. Detoxification with Suboxone® is available for opiate addicts, when appropriate. The length of stay in our detox unit is generally from one to four days, followed by transfer to the short-term inpatient unit. Our medical director is Richard Moran, DO, addiction specialist. The staff consists of licensed nurses and an experienced addictions counselor. The detox unit has nurses on staff 24 hours a day. During the detox period, patients begin the assessment and treatment process to encourage continued participation in treatment For more information, call the admissions department at 814.437.1750 or toll-free 888.272.8922. |
